Mission Raniganj original quality
On November 13 in 1989, 232 miners got entrapped in India’s first coal mine in Raniganj after a crack triggered by a blast led to the flooding of the mine. Out of these, six killed, one hundred and sixty one were evacuated immediately, and the rest sheltered at a high point inside the mine. When everyone became almost hopeless, Jaswant Singh Gill, a young engineer from the Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad saved the day with his non-conventional approach and courage. He designed an iron capsule and dropped it inside by digging a new borehole to recover sixty five miners. Now, director Tinu Suresh Desai recreates his heroic feat, which needs to be said to the young generation, in this one-dimensional film that possibly only exists because Akshay Kumar wanted to play one more real-life hero.
